ITALIAN
Two groups are learning Italian within SGU3A. We are guided expertly by the same tutor (a lady who spent 40 years in Italy and is an experienced language teacher), studying for 2 hours with a break for refreshments, at the group leader’s home. Terms are about 10 weeks long.
The ELEMENTARY group began in Autumn 2010, as a result of the first group becoming too far advanced to continue to be called ‘Beginners’. However, as with the INTERMEDIATE Group, we have benefited from the skill of our experienced teacher in the time since then; basic vocabulary and grammar, always in the context of Italian culture, has been learnt amid much discussion and humour. The main focus has been on Italian pronunciation.
The Elementary Group session runs from 11a.m. to 1p.m. The longer-established INTERMEDIATE Group are able to read and write as well as speak Italian at a more advanced level. This group also meets at the home of one of the group from 2 until 4p.m.
Should anyone wish to join either group (depending on previous knowledge and/or aptitude for language learning), please contact via the information in In Touch.
